Racing together. Winning together. Learning together.

Whether it's your first criterium or your fiftieth national championship, VRT is built around one simple belief: racing is better when you do it together.

From local club races to national championships, we support riders of every level with training, mentoring and a community that's there before, during and after every event.

Why We Race

More than results

Winning is exciting, but it's only part of the story.

At VRT, racing is about challenging yourself, developing your skills and discovering what you're capable of. It's about learning race craft, supporting your teammates and celebrating every finish, whether that's your first race, your fastest lap or standing on the podium.

Success isn't measured by medals alone. It's measured by the people beside you and the journey you share getting there.

WHERE WE RACE

From local races to national championships

VRT supports a wide range of events and clubs.

These includes all AusCycle sanctioned races such as Nationals, Seven, and Worlds.

We also support local WA events from West Cycle, West Coast Masters, Midland, Peel Districts and Roues Chaudes Cycling Club.

NEW TO RACING

Everyone has a first race

If you've never pinned on a number before, you're exactly the kind of rider we love welcoming to VRT.

We'll help you understand the different race formats, choose an event that matches your experience, organise your AusCycling licence and answer all those questions every new racer has.

No pressure. No judgement. Just experienced teammates who remember what it felt like to stand on the start line for the first time.

RACE DAY AT VRT

You're never racing alone

Race day starts long before the whistle. Bikes are checked, numbers are pinned and teammates gather over coffee before rolling to the start together.

From the first kilometre to the finish line, there's always someone in your corner—whether it's tactical advice, encouragement from the roadside or a well-earned celebration afterwards.

Because at VRT, race day is about more than the result. It's about sharing the experience together.

WHY RACE WITH VRT?

You're joining more than a racing team.

When you join VRT, you're not just signing up for races. You're joining a club that believes the best racing happens when riders lift each other up, not just compete alongside each other.

Whether you're preparing for your first start line or chasing your next podium, you'll find a team that's genuinely invested in your progress, not just your results.

Growing Together

Race alongside riders who've competed at local, state, and national level. Every race is a chance to learn something, whether it's your first or your fiftieth.

Room for Every Rider

Chasing your first finish, building confidence, or aiming for national success, there's a place for you in the bunch.

A Welcoming Culture

Everyone remembers their first race. That's why VRT is built on encouragement, respect, and celebrating every milestone, not just podium finishes.

Team Before Trophies

At VRT, results matter, but how you get there matters more. It's a club that celebrates the effort as much as the outcome.

FAQs

Before your first race

Everything you need to know before pinning on a number.

Do I need racing experience?

Not at all. Many of our members joined VRT before ever pinning on a race number. Whether you're completely new or returning to racing after a break, we'll help you find the right place to start.

What bike do I need?

For most road races and criteriums, a well-maintained road bike is all you need. If you're interested in gravel, cyclocross or time trials, we'll happily explain any additional equipment that's recommended.

What if I'm not racing to win?

That's perfectly okay. Not everyone races for podiums. Some members race to challenge themselves, build confidence or simply enjoy the experience. At VRT, success is measured by progress not just results.

Do I need an AusCycling licence?

Yes. Most sanctioned races require an AusCycling licence. If you're new to racing, we'll help you understand which licence you need and how to get set up before your first event.

Which race should I enter first?

That depends on your experience, confidence and goals. We'll help you choose an event that's appropriate for your ability so your first race is both enjoyable and rewarding.

How do I get started?

Come along to one of our club rides, introduce yourself and have a chat with the committee or one of our experienced racers. We'll answer your questions, point you in the right direction and help you take the first step.
